LIMAY RIVER

The excursion leaves from the City of Bariloche. Transportation will take the guides and the anglers to the river. The journey will take about half an hour. It may be a half-a-day or an all-day excursion (for excursions taking several days, see special programs). The starting point in the river is chosen according to the length of the excursion. Floating the Limay River is a captivating experience. This is a quiet wide river, full of spots, pools and flumes, where the day passes mildly, amid a majestic landscape. Once near the river, a lecture about safety in the water, the regulations in force and fishing modalities will be given. Once anglers are already floating, they will be able to cast from the raft (spinning or fly-casting may be practiced) and they may wade various spots and flumes, according to season. All-day outings give the possibility of getting off the raft at a private exclusive spot and enjoying an asado and a good rest by the river. The guide will provide assistance as regards fishing matters, equipment, flies, spinners, the national park, its flora and fauna, as well as information about tourist servicies in Bariloche. We have modern equipment and human resources to make you feel like going through this experience again.
Fish offered by this river: rainbow trout (oncorhynchus mykiss), and brown trout (salmo trutta), whose weight ranges between 500 and 4000 grams, brook trout (salvelinus fontinalis), and perch (percychtis sp.).
Equipment used: light spinning rods, rotating lures and spoons, fly rods Nbr. 5 thru 9, sinking lines and wet flies and streamers, according to season.

DURATION: ALL DAY (7-8 hours), HALF-A-DAY (4 hours).
ITINERARY: it may vary according to weather conditions.
CRAFT: 14-foot-long raft (2 people) .
APPROPRIATE CLOTHING: suitable clothing for outdoor excursions, hiking shoes, cotton sports stockings, loose trousers made of strong cloth, warm sweatshirt or long-sleeved shirt and waterproof jacket. Also, spare footwear, stockings, sunglasses, cap and sun protection.
IT INCLUDES: Free transportation, service on board: drinks, water, coffee, tea, mate, soft drinks, beer, wine, smoked products, lunch, fruit, chocolates, spinning gear and guides.
IT DOES NOT INCLUDE: fishing permits, fly-casting equipment.
OPTIONAL: asado by the river, FLY-CASTING EQUIPMENT RENTAL (FLY).

OUTINGS TAKING SEVERAL DAYS
The Limay River may be fished in two or more days in various areas. This is an ideal program to travel the river with enough time to spare, making stops at every nice spot, without any time limit. Anglers may spend the night at several points in the river where there are cabins or camping sites or return to the city and have dinner in one of our recommended restaurants. If you spend the night by the river, we will serve cold dishes or smoked products for dinner, as well as asados with Patagonian meat, good wine and even dessert.
