Lake excursion to lake Frey with hiking and Fly Casting
We will sail across Lake Nahuel Huapi up to the mouth of the Tristeza Arm. After approximately 2 hours, we will get to the end of this arm, to the mouth of the Frey River, which flows down from the lake bearing the same name. Once there, we will hike across the mountain for 90 minutes, according to everyone's pace. This is an intermediate difficulty hike along the banks of the Frey River, within the Valdivian rainforest teeming with cañas colihues, ancient larches, radales, coihues, cypresses, lengas and ferns. This ecosystem has remained untouched for centuries. Cascades, rainforest darkness, humidity and fresh air. In the river, we will watch small trout in the pools under the cascades. At the end of the trail, the beauty of Lake Frey flowing through a narrow ravine at a greater height than the Nahuel Huapi will take your breath away. We will be able to fish from belly boats, or on board small inflatable crafts. Both spinning and fly casting may be practiced in order to catch rainbow, brown and fontinalis trout which can reach 1.5 kg, under the catch and release modality. Fishing is plentiful and the environment is magical. Our guides will provide all necessary assistance about the local flora and fauna, history and fishing. Anglers may practice trolling so as to catch some rainbow or brown trout specimen.

This outing takes all day. If any tourist does not feel like hiking, they may stay on the boat. Lunch is generally served up in the lake. The maximum number of passengers per boat is 4, and two per launch, who can go hiking. Only two people may fish Lake Frey. Trout species dwelling this lake are rainbow trout (oncorhynchus mykiss), brown trout (salmo trutta), and brook trout (salvelinus fontinalis). All of them weight between 500 and 1,500 grs.
This is a one-day excursion but it is ideal to have more time to go up the lake and practice fly-fishing in the mouths of other streams on the Nahuel Huapi. The outing may be done in two days, spending the night on the cruise (in this case, the maximum number of passengers is 2).
